Top 10 Best Soccer Clubs in the World as of 2013

Posted by .

Ranking football clubs is too much of an effort to make, for most soccer fans will not accept any list to be fully accurate, no matter how unbiased it is. And I do welcome arguments in the comment section below! 🙂

As the title suggest, this list is for the year 2013; giving more priority to the last year performance over overall statistics of the football clubs.

Top Ten Football Clubs

Top 10 Best Soccer Clubs in the World as of 2013

1. Barcelona

Winning 4 Champions Leagues, 4 UEFA Cups, 4 UEFA super cups, 2 Fifa Club World Cup, 21 La Liga, 26 Copa del Rey, 3 Copa Eva Duarte and 10 Spanish super cups, FC Barcelona is undoubtedly the best soccer club in the world. They weren’t that bad last year considering the unfortunate defeat against Chelsea in the semi-finals. They deserved to play finals in the Munich. In the La Liga, even though they had to end up being the runners up following Real Madrid, the 3 times consecutive win before last year is enough to show how dominant Barcelona is in the Spain.

Key players: Lionel Messi (of course!), Andrés Iniesta and Xavi Hernández.

2. Bayern Munich

The very unfortunate and undeserving defeat against Chelsea won’t let the Bavarians go any down in the ranking. They are the real football champions of last year, as luck has only been the factor that made Chelsea lift the trophy. Bayern Munich is arguably the 2nd best soccer clubs in the world considering the recent records as well the history of a century. With a record of winning 4 Champions league, 22 Bundesliga titles, 15 DFB Pokal (German cups), 2 Intercontinental cups, 1 Europa League and 1 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, Bayern Munich is one of very few clubs with a fair history in accounts.

Key players: Frank Ribery, Bastian Schweinsteiger, and Arjen Robben.

3. Real Madrid

I had to think twice before placing Bayern Munich 2nd in the position, and that is partly because of Real Madrid. If Bayern Munich was unable to defeat Real last season, we’d have easily reached a conclusion in two Spanish clubs leading this list. We also witnessed Real Madrid outsmarting Barca last season to win the La Liga after quite a long wait. Thanks to Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Key Players: Cristiano Ronaldo, Iker Casillas and Kaka.

4. Manchester United

After losing English Premier in the last minute last season, Manchester United seems to be back dominating the EPL this season. They also displayed their glory in the UEFA Champions league winning first 4 games in a row, though only to be followed by a defeat of 2. The Red Devils is however an inevitable team in the top positions considering that they were 3 times finalist in the last 5 seasons of UEFA Champions league; and of course, their English dominance.

Key Players: Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie and Shinji Kagawa.

5. Chelsea

To be very honest, European champions Chelsea are quite lucky to be ranked in this list. Last seasons’ unbelievable run in the last few months won them two very important trophies, of which one is the crown of the UEFA Champions League.

Roberto De Matteo had a very fortunate career in Chelsea late last season to win both FA Cup and UEFA Champions League even after failing to perform any good at the beginning of the season. After all, Chelsea looks more powerful this season with the signing of few strong game-changers; however still failed to make into the pre-quarters of champions league or to top the EPL this season.

Key Players: Frank Lampard, Eden Hazard and David Luiz.

6. Juventus

Key Players: Gianluigi Buffon and Andrea Pirlo.

7. Manchester City

Key Players: Mario Balotelli, David Silva and Sergio Agüero.

8. Paris Saint Germain

Key Players: Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ezequiel Lavezzi.

9. Borussia Dortmund

Key Players: Marco Reus, Robert Lewandowski and Mario Götze.

10. Arsenal

Key Players: Jack Wilshere, Lukas Podolski and Tomas Rosicky.

🙂 To be honest, I thought twice before adding Kagawa. But then, who else should I consider? Valencia? no.. Cleverley? no.. Kagawa had a great start with the Red Devils this season and the team is expecting a lot more from him in the coming matches. He is definitely an important player in the midfield.
    Thanks bro for dropping by!

    Hello Ali,

I agree with you about Dortmund outsmarting Manchester City. We witnessed that this Champions league.
But FC Shakhtar Donetsk is yet to deserve a rank better than Arsenal I guess.

    Cheers, Jijo

  5. Jijo Sunny

I agree with you if we take their present form into consideration. However, considering that they are the current European Champions, they arguably deserve to be placed 5th.
    Thanks for dropping by.
